Magnesium plays an important role in more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body. It contributes to normal functioning of the nervous system and muscles, plays a role in bone formation, supports energy metabolism, and helps maintain the normal balance of the body’s water and mineral balance. Magnesium contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. An adult body contains approximately 25 g of magnesium, of which 50% to 60% is present in the bones, and the remainder in soft tissues. In daily work and sports efforts, magnesium is used in the muscles and promotes energy metabolism. Magnesium and Calcium in the body are antagonists. This means that a high concentration of Magnesium helps the body to excrete Calcium stored in tissue and organs.

In addition to consuming magnesium, the muscles produce acids as waste products. These substances must be removed from the body. Research has shown that a body functions optimally when the pH is slightly alkaline. A proper blood pH is therefore very important for all physiological processes in the body, including the use of nutrition, vitamins and minerals. The optimal pH is 7.4.

Bicarbonates are the main transporters of oxygen in the body and also act as a buffer to regulate pH. The bicarbonate that we consume usually comes in the form of sodium. However, a large sodium intake is also not recommended. Much of our diet has an acidifying effect on our body, and the body’s solution is to produce bicarbonate itself to raise the pH. However, due to our current diet, aging and stress factors, this is not possible and the entire body becomes acidic.

What exactly is Relaxxx Drink?

RelaXXX water is unique in that both minerals which are needed by the body but rarely found together in nature are now combined in one bottle. The bottle is a concentrated stock solution, containing 35 g/L Magnesium Bicarbonate. With a daily use of 30 ml RelaXXX diluted in 1 liter (carbonated) mineral water (preferably with as less Calcium and Sodium as possible), you provide your body with 1,06 gram soluble Magnesium bicarbonate per day.

How to prepare the Magnesium Bicarbonate Drink

Store the concentrated Relaxxx in the refrigerator before use.

Carefully open the bottle and pour 30 ml into an empty 1 liter beverage bottle. Fill the bottle with 1 liter of cold (CO2 mineral) water

Drink 4 glasses of 250 ml of your own drink during the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does RelaXXX remain effective if kept refrigerated between uses?

The contents will remain fine as long as enough carbon dioxide remains in the bottle to keep the Magnesium stable in solution. If a little white residue appears, too much carbon dioxide has escaped and magnesium precipitates as magnesium carbonate. That is not a problem, but this product is less well absorbed by the body. Therefore, carefully pour 30 ml into 1 liter of water each time. In principle, the bottle is stable for 3-5 weeks during use. The bottle remains stable for at least 6 months when unopened. The drink you make every day is stable at room temperature because the magnesium bicarbonate is then present in a diluted form.

How does Magnesium Bicarbonate drive Calcium from the tissues?

When you dilute 60 ml of concentrate (35g/l) in 1 liter of water and drink it during the day, you consume 370 mg of biologically active Magnesium ++. This concentration is so powerful that it dissolves the so-called calcium complexes.

When can I switch to a maintenance dose?

When the calcium has disappeared to a sufficient extent, you can reduce the amount to 15 ml of concentrate per liter of drink per day. To be sure of this, a hair mineral analysis is suitable as a means to determine the Calcium / Magnesium ratio.

How come I don’t taste any carbon dioxide flavor? I thought the bicarbonates are gone when the carbon dioxide is gone?

When the concentrate is diluted to 1062 ppm or less, it appears as if no carbon dioxide is present. That is not true. Carbonic acid is soluble in water, and the Magnesium complex is stably present in the solution.

I have a SodaStream at home that I use to make carbonated water. Can I use this to prepare my drink?

Yes of course! The concentration of magnesium bicarbonate will not increase, but extra bicarbonate will be formed. You can also use the Sodastream to keep your cooled concentrate stable.
Here is a simple recipe: Start with 30 ml of Relaxxx concentrate. Mix this with 900 ml of water and add the carbon dioxide. Add 70 ml of fresh fruit juice or lemonade to the drink. Finished!

Can I use Magnesium Bicarbonate in other juices, fruit concentrates, teas or other flavored drinks?

Yes, that’s possible. You will find that you need to add less flavor than usual because magnesium bicarbonate enhances the flavor. It mixes very well with all kinds of different juices and teas.

I find it easy to consume the drink during a meal. Is that good or is the effect less?

That in itself is not a problem, but eating between meals is better. Because the drink is slightly alkaline, it can neutralize stomach acid in the stomach in case you produce little stomach acid while eating.

Is it a problem to drink magnesium bicarbonate if you have kidney problems? Magnesium is then not excreted efficiently and can then accumulate in the body. The bicarbonate does help to excrete acids, but perhaps people with kidney problems should not drink this water?

Indeed, this drink will not go well with kidney problems. That is why the label states that in this case you should contact a health professional or doctor before drinking this. If you suspect a kidney problem, stick to the maintenance dose of 8 ml of Relaxxx per liter of water) until the situation improves or an expert indicates what the options are.

Normally carbonated drinks are really sour. Isn’t it strange to drink magnesium bicarbonate that is also carbonated?

Magnesium bicarbonate is not acidic, but has a pH of approximately 7. It is not recommended to drink the concentrate. When the concentrate is properly diluted, the drink can be compared to the carbon dioxide in carbonated drinks. In other words, acid is not created immediately; dissolved CO2 (also called H2CO3 or H-HCO3 or hydrogen bicarbonate) has no effect on the Magnesium bicarbonate.
